Hundreds of bargain hunters were evacuated from a busy shopping centre after a bomb threat was made against the complex.

Police responded the explosive threat at the Stockland shopping centre in Townsville about 12.40pm on Thursday.

‘As a precaution the shopping centre was evacuated,’ Queensland Police told Daily Mail Australia.

Police are now investigating the possibility the threat was made by juveniles.

The shops have since been reopened.
