Even if it seems like a mistake for many fans, one must be aware that the image processing of a film involves several stages and nothing is left to chance, especially not the darkness. High-contrast images are usually more atmospheric than the bright monotony that is mostly known from bad TV series. In addition, the content of the films and series is becoming increasingly gloomy.
Villains, but above all heroes, are getting more and more facets, so that one can understand their motives better. In order to visualize these contradictions, a differentiated play with light and shadow is required. One could also say: the darker the soul of the characters, the darker the picture that is presented to us.
