More than a hundred firefighters are trying to curb the fire that broke out next to the Paris Opera. The cause of the fire is still unknown, the authorities are investigating, the Reuters news agency.
The fire broke out in one of the buildings on Boulevard des Capucines, near Place de L’Opera, in central Paris.
Local police have issued a warning about the fire, asking everyone to avoid the area.
A Le Figaro according to information, the fire broke out at 10:30 a.m. There are mainly offices and flats on the floors of the building on fire, and the flames themselves erupted in the office space on the third floor of the seven-storey building.
Firefighters also deployed drones and articulated levers to monitor them from the air. A spokesman for the fire department said the risk of spreading remained.
According to the paper, no reports of personal injury or death have been received so far.
In Paris, another major building, the Notre-Dame Cathedral, had previously been blazed on April 15, 2019, which also destroyed the roof and hussar tower.
Last year, the demolition of the deformed scaffolding around the hussar tower that collapsed in the wake of the fire was completed, thus averting the danger of collapse. Earlier, the Index also reported that they had completed the Notre-Dame building stabilization work.
