The Palestinian problem must be resolved. This was stated by Vladimir Putin when he received Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Sochi. The Russian head of state added that in accordance with the position of the UN Security Council, this must be done taking into account the interests of all the peoples living in the region, the telegraph office wrote.

Putin stressed that the Russian position is unchanged; a just settlement is based on the existence of two independent states.

He put it this way: “the work will move in that direction, no matter how hard”.

The Russian president urged that the work of the Russian-Palestinian Intergovernmental Commission, which had been suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic, be resumed as soon as possible. He also mentioned that Moscow is supporting Palestine with the vaccine, drugs and specialists in the fight against the coronavirus.

It was also discussed at the meeting that the volume of bilateral trade increased by almost a third in a one-year interval.
