Warning signs for regular parking were placed in Annex VII. district Nefelejcs, Dohány and Wesselényi streets – the Budapest Transport Center (BKK) informed MTI.
More than two thousand cases of irregularly parked cars are registered in the capital every year when BKK flights are blocked.
These traffic situations not only cause extra work for the transport company, but also prevent passengers from reaching their destination at the right time.
They called attention. They added that about half of the cases concern downtown trolleybus lines, where narrow streets and “power constraints” make it much harder to get around cars parked in the wrong place.
According to BKK, this is why the new signs were placed at the mentioned locations: this year the traffic was about 48 hours in Nefelejcs street, more than 36 hours in Dohány street and almost 12 hours in Wesselényi street.
The company asks car users to use only designated parking spaces and also only use them regularly, thus helping the movement of public transport vehicles.
If the cars parked illegally obstruct the vehicles, the competent authorities can remove them and the owner of the car can expect a fine of 10 thousand to 30 thousand forints – they warn.
As we have written, BKK and VII. In May, the district government wanted to remedy the problem by reducing the sidewalk in Dohány Street from 140 centimeters to almost half, to 75 centimeters. This plan later withdrawn.
