The Fidesz-KDNP government’s home-building program has received applications from almost two hundred thousand families in the last six years, amounting to about HUF 633 billion, He told András Tállai to the Hungarian Nation. The Secretary of State of the Ministry of Finance added: by May 2021, more than 144 billion forints in applications had been received for support for the so-called village kiss, which promotes the creation of homes in small settlements. He indicated: a request for HUF 13.5 billion in village tax refund support was received. The state expenditure on repayment support for families with additional children with a housing loan debt will reach HUF 27 billion this year.

Tállai also spoke about the fact that on January 1, the government expanded the home-building program: the 5% discounted housing VAT rate is once again in use, and families with children can buy a new home free of VAT.

There is no need to pay a fee for the purchased apartment. Through the home renovation program, hundreds of thousands of families can renovate and modernize their homes; so far, more than HUF 122 billion in applications have been received.

The secretary said he feared that if the left came to power in next year’s parliamentary elections, those concessions would be null and void.
