The National Institute of Social Security (INSS) temporarily suspended the performance of medical expertise of the Disability Benefits Review Program. The expertise is necessary to review the benefit for temporary incapacity, former sick pay. The suspension was due to the increase in cases of covid-19 in the country.
The suspension applies to investigations scheduled since January 12 of this year. The joint ordinance of the INSS and the Ministry of Labor was published this Thursday (13). According to the ministry, the suspended investigations will be rescheduled for the second half of the year, and the INSS will inform policyholders of the new date.
Insured persons affected by the suspension of expertise will continue to receive benefits normally.
The ordinance maintained the service for cases of joint efforts to carry out medical expertise that were already scheduled and with trips defined within the scope of the Undersecretary of Federal Medical Expertise.
