Living in a community is increasingly demanding: we have to be able to follow the values ​​and culture of a country and, at the same time, identify those rules that our “self” cannot comply with because they are too antagonistic to what we believe to be the truth. It is important to emphasize the role of the school in this dichotomy and reinforce that it is desirable to teach children and young people to grow up, so that they become “political animals”, as Aristotle would say in book IX of the work Nicomachean Ethics. For this, the school needs to work on different literacies, one of which is mathematical literacy.
