Böhmermann & Schulz: Will Fest & Fluschig be discontinued soon?

Hamburg – Anyone who listened carefully to the last episode of the successful Spotify podcast “Fest & Flauschig” with Jan Böhmermann and Olli Schulz (released on Sunday, November 21st, 21) could come to the conclusion: It won’t be long for the two of them.

After more than five years at Spotify and before that four years at Radio Eins (RBB), the talk duo could soon be over.

The frustration literally flashes through the entire program on Sunday from many dialogues. One topic is predominant: the new podcast by TV presenter Markus Lanz (52) and philosopher Richard David Precht (56).

It was only twelve weeks ago that “Lanz & Precht“On Spotify (every Friday, produced by OMR commissioned by ZDF) – and immediately shot past “Fest & Flauschig” in the Spotify charts, which was then just in the summer break. Caught cold at most.

But as it turns out, it was not a coincidence. In the last few weeks, “Lanz & Precht” has put itself permanently ahead of “Fest & Flauschig” (see Spotify podcast charts). And that has to gnaw massively at Böhmermann (40) and Schulz (48).

The whole Sunday program there are always biting remarks up to the point of comparison that they are also a similar couple. He, Böhmermann the television presenter and Olli Schulz the popular philosopher. They do not mention the names of Lanz and Precht once in this context.

On the other hand, there is no shortage of allusions that they, Jan and Olli, are the inventors of the whole podcast genre at Spotify, after all, they have been running it for years with unbelievable success.

A week earlier, Olli Schulz mentioned that the new Spotify original podcast “Offline + honest“(With Trymax, Varion and unsympathischTV) and he allows the guys to be number 1 on the podcast charts.

Does he really allow them to do it?

So “Fest & Fluschig” is not only kicked out of the TOP5 by two people in their mid-fifties, but also by three YouTube greenhorns within a few weeks?

Yes, “Fest & Fluschig” is now only number 6 among the most popular podcasts. And MontanaBlack is already waiting for 7th place …

In second place is the permanent rival “Mixed hack“(With Felix Lobrecht & Tommi Schmitt), in 3rd place” Lanz & Precht “, in 4th place” Hobbyless “with Rezo & Julien Bam (YouTuber again). And in fifth place with “Power and Millions” by Business Insider, a media brand even snakes its way past.

So what is going on in Schulz and Böhmermann, the two old Alfas of the German media and entertainment world?

It is not surprising then that Olli Schulz himself asks the crucial question about the continuation of the broadcast in the last third of the Sunday podcast (at 55:36 minutes):

“… how much longer, Jan, are there any plans for the future?”

Jan Böhmermann answered ironically: “That is actually the question. Now that we have found our niche in the market: the popular philosopher and the television presenter …)

In the past two or three years, both of them have regularly flirted that they are now the “old white cis-men” whose time is over because the youth overtakes them. But in the back of their minds they knew exactly: Folks, what do you want, we are number 1, we are the Babos from Spotify …

Well, not anymore. Dethroned by two philosophizing mid-fifties and a swarm of green horns from the Internet.

What do Schulz and Böhmermann think of that? Do they have the size to endure, no longer to be on top? Do you turn it up again?

Or will you never return from the Christmas break at the end of 2021?
