Economist João Salgueiro who, in the post-25th of April, was Minister of State, Finance and Planning of the VIII Constitutional Government, led by Francisco Pinto Balsemão, died this Friday, aged 88. It was the Presidency of the Republic that informed the country of the death of the former ruler and, in a note signed by the head of State, considered that “Portugal lost today [ontem] one of its most brilliant economists of the second half of the twentieth century.”
