The Japanese JVC is known for its top home projectors, which are not cheap at all. At CES, it presented a novelty, the JVC DLA-NP5 projector. It boasts full 4K resolution, but also HDMI 2.1 input with 4K120P mode support. Which, of course, will be of interest to demanding players. Due to its quality, the projector will not be cheap at all. The estimated price is 6,990 Euros, which is approximately 170,000 CZK. What will you get for it?

The new DLA-NP5 projector, of course, uses the company’s D-ILA projector technology, which is best known for its excellent black level and natural contrast. The new projector offers 4K120p resolution support and HDR10 + HDR compatibility.

There are two HDMI 2.1 with HDCP 2.3 inputs, they support data rates up to 48 Gb / s and, of course, allow the connection of all the latest video sources, including the latest game consoles. 4K120p video processing in combination with low latency mode thus offers the possibility to display games in high quality.

The company’s 0.69 “D-ILA chip, which is also used in JVC’s premium projectors, offers native 4K resolution and is equipped with the Narrow Pitch Pixel process. The lens is 65mm, all-glass with 17 elements in 15 groups, the manufacturer promises extremely sharp images up to regions.

The JVC DLA-NP5 projector supports both HDR10 + (which uses dynamic metadata) and HDR10 and HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma). The Frame Adapt HDR function then also provides dynamic tone mapping based on HDR10 content analysis – either frame by frame or scene by scene. Another feature, Theater Optimizer, is to automatically ensure optimal tone mapping according to the environment.

Automatic picture mode selection allows you to preset the preferred picture mode for SDR (2D), SDR (3D), HDR and HLG. Then the selection of picture modes is completely automatic. Clear Motion technology ensures sharp, blur-free images and smooth motion

The DLA-NP5 projector should have a maximum brightness of 1,900 lumens, the stated static contrast should be 40,000: 1. Another improvement is provided by the “intelligent lens aperture”, which automatically controls the black level, ensuring a dynamic contrast of 400,000: 1.

ISF certification is a matter of course, so the DLA-NP5 can be calibrated without any problems, there will be 10 memories for installation settings, there is also JVC AutoCAL for recalibration of color reproduction and gamma.

The new JVC DLA-NP5 projector is scheduled to go on sale in March 2022.
