The Kremlin showed, on Wednesday (13), its satisfaction with incipient talks with Washington on various subjects, such as arms control or cybersecurity, the day after a high-ranking US government official visited Russia.

“Everything went very well. It is a positive point, with regard to the development of our bilateral relations”, said the spokesman for the Russian Presidency, Dmitri Peskov, in a press conference call.

“Talking is important. We should not regret if some goals are not achieved immediately,” he added, referring to the many differences between Washington and Moscow.

According to Peskov, the visit of Victoria Nuland, number three in American diplomacy, to meet members of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Kremlin is “useful”.

These meetings follow the summit between Joe Biden and Vladimir Putin held last June in Geneva. In it, both agreed to resume dialogue on issues of common interest.
