Leon, Guanajuato. Luis Alfonso Gonzalez Valencia SJ was appointed as interim rector of the Iberoamerican University Leon, who received the baton from Alexander Paul Zatyrka Pacheco SJ, now Rector of Western Institute of Technology and Higher Studies (ITESO), in Guadalajara.
Through a statement signed by Ivonne Perez Wilson, director of links and institutional communication was informed of this change.
The brief shares that, according to the prerogatives granted by the statute of the Jesuit University System (SUJ), the Provincial Father Luis Gerardo Moro Madrid, He was the one who gave this appointment for the duration of the process for the new rector, which is expected to be announced in the coming weeks through the institutional media.
The Interim Rector has a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in Philosophy and Social Sciences by ITESO. He studied Bachelor of Religious sciences on the Iberoamerican University Mexico City and is currently a doctoral student in Philosophy by University of Granada, Spain.
He was part of the faculty of the Department of Philosophy and Humanities from ITESO. Author in the “Notebooks of Faith and Culture”, del SUJ; ,Riches and Challenges of Postmodernity to Christianity (2009)” Y “Salvation as a proposal for human fulfillment (2016)”.
It was Coordinator of the University Reflection Area of the Ibero León and until before the position he worked as Director of the Humanist Training Center.
In this same house of studies he has taught the subject “Freedom from the Christian perspective”, in University Reflection Area; and in the master’s degree Clinical Psychotherapy, the subject of “Ethics and professional development”.
During the imposition of the summer to the new interim rector, Luis Alfonso González Valencia SJ shared his first message to the Ibero León community.
I want to thank the Provincial Father for his confidence in proposing me as Acting Rector of this house of studies. Rest assured that I will put my talents and abilities into this task that is entrusted to you,” he said.
He thanked the outgoing Rector for his generosity and dedication in the shared time and wished him that in his new mission at ITESO he would continue contributing to the construction of a fairer society.
