Luis Muriel at Atalanta: the 'Goddess' would be seriously thinking about renewing the Colombian's contract | Serie A | Soccer of Europe | Champions League | CO | COLOMBIA

Football seems to be smiling once again at Luis Muriel. And it is that the Colombian striker was the hero of the Atalanta marking the final 3-3 against the Young Boys with a goal from a free kick, in the duel corresponding to date 5 of the Champions League. This goal was not only a declaration of intent towards Gian Piero Gasperini – asking him for more minutes on the pitch -, his coach, but also the confirmation that he wants to stay in Bergamo to regain the place he had last season.

The one born in Santo Tomás has always been a guarantee in the ‘Goddess’, because during the past year he finished as the team’s top scorer in all competitions. However, injuries have been playing a trick on him for a long time and he had to give his place to his compatriot Duván Zapata, who incidentally has also responded with goals.

However, today he is already physically well and has shown that he will not stop until he wins the title again. Not only did he come from scoring Young Boys for the ‘Orejona’, but also in Serie A he showed that he is already fit by contributing a goal and an assist in the 5-2 win over La Spezia.

This rebirth of Muriel has served so that, according to ‘Calciomercato’, Atalanta seriously considers its immediate renewal. The coffee grower contract is stipulated until 2023, so the Bergamo team would have to accelerate the negotiations before the player takes off and other suitors appear in Europe.

Given the renewal of the former Sevilla player, Duván Zapata, with whom he continually exchanges positions in Gasperini’s changes, he could have a companion in the ‘Dea’ offensive.

This tie in the last minute against Young Boys has served Atalanta to stretch their chances of reaching the knockout stages of the 2021-22 Champions League. To achieve this, they will only have to beat Villarreal on December 8 at the Gewiss Stadium, in what will be the closing day of the group stage.
