Azores Airlines, a subsidiary company of the SATA Group, will operate a weekly direct flight between Madeira and Toronto, in Canada, from the 2nd of June, announced the Regional Government.
According to a statement from the Secretariat for Tourism and Culture of Madeira, departure from Toronto will take place on Friday at 8:45 pm (local time), arriving in Madeira at 11:20 am on Saturday.
In turn, departure from Funchal will take place on Saturday at 12:25 pm, arriving in Toronto at 7:30 pm (local time).
“The trips will be made with the Airbus A321 LR, with 190 seats and two classes of service”, clarifies the regional secretariat, underlining that the Association for the Promotion of Madeira (AP Madeira) is already collaborating with the Azorean company in campaigns “co -branding” and other joint promotional actions in Canada.
For her part, Grupo SATA’s Marketing and Sales director, Graça Silva, quoted in the statement, says that the commitment to this flight stems from the “significant growth” in the number of tourists who have chosen the Azorean airline’s flights. Azores Airlines bound for Madeira.
The regional secretary for Tourism and Culture, Eduardo Jesus, also quoted in the statement, says that the Toronto operation “constitutes a moment of great satisfaction for the region, which was working to make it a reality”, after managing to “solidify the connection direct to New York all year round”.
