The head of the Secretariat of Malvinas, Antarctica, South Atlantic Islands and International Affairs provided details of the various actions carried out this year in order to strengthen the presence of the Province at the national and international level.

Andrés Dachary attended the provincial Legislature in order to provide details of the Budget of the area under his charge. In this sense, he highlighted the most important actions developed during the last year, as well as what is projected for 2022 where, among various strategic objectives, The prominence that the agenda will have for the 40 years of the deed of Malvinas.

The head of the Secretariat of Malvinas, Antarctica, South Atlantic Islands and International Affairs provided details of the various actions carried out this year in order to strengthen the presence of the Province at the national and international level.

Regarding the Question of the Falkland Islands named a series of complaints made from the Province before the member countries of the United Nations for the violation of different Resolutions by the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, as well as the presence of a US nuclear submarine, who was conducting joint exercises with British aircraft in the South Atlantic.

Emphasizing that this international cooperation action shows the continuity of the provincial policy that seeks to promote the city of Ushuaia as a natural gateway to Antarctica, demonstrating its capabilities in terms of services and infrastructure.

On the other hand, he referred to the negotiations with the Antarctic Joint Command (COCOANTAR), together with whom a Framework Agreement was renewed with the intention of strengthening the institutional presence of the province, gradually incorporating the assistance of workers in the health sector dependent on the provincial government to the different bases, as well as the readjustment of the conditions regarding the selection of bicontinental teachers, guaranteeing gender equality.

Likewise, the Secretary detailed the implementation of socio-cultural policies in order to strengthen our Antarctic identity and strengthen our bi-continental character. Among them he mentioned the institutionalization of the “Antarctic Month” and the “Antarctic Festival”, as well as the realization of the “First Argentine – French Webinar: Scientific Opportunities and Challenges 60 years after the Antarctic Treaty came into effect”.

Another of the management axes of the Secretariat on which he presented, was linked to cross-border cooperation and intervention in various situations that involve our bilateral relationship with the sister Republic of Chile. In this point, Dachary detailed the current operation of the San Sebastián Cross-Border Pass and aspects related to the agreed double-header integrated control modality, in order to streamline border controls related to the recent signing of reversal notes between the two Foreign Ministries.

On the other hand, the Secretary highlighted the actions regarding links with other international actors, highlighting the donation by a Norwegian civil organization of orthopedic elements and computer equipment, as well as the selection of our province to represent the country. in the European IURC program, and the procedures carried out before the Russian Embassy, ​​initiating the process for the acquisition of the national purchase of Sputnik V vaccines and their manufacture in our territory.

Finally, he detailed the next visit of a delegation from the United Nations, to begin this Thursday, November 26, stating that: “We will work with the different offices and areas of the Government of the province, being the first time that such an approach has been made in Tierra del Fuego. It is a two-day mission, which also commemorates the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. Various work tables will be held and we will be signing a Letter of Intent to coordinate future and joint actions with the UN ”.
