A 46-year-old man died today after falling from a float that had participated in the Corso Carnavalesco de Almodôvar, Beja district, revealed the Civil Protection and the mayor.
A source from the Lower Alentejo Sub-Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command told the Lusa agency that the alert for the accident was given to the authorities at 5:54 pm and that the victim’s death was declared on the spot.
Contacted by Lusa, the mayor of Almodôvar, António Bota, said that the fatal victim is a 46-year-old man, who was part of the motorcycle club group from the Alentejo village participating in the carnival parade.
The mayor pointed out that the fall happened after the corso had ended and when the members of this group were still having fun.
Rescue operations mobilized the Almodôvar Firefighters, the National Institute of Medical Emergencies (INEM) and the GNR, with a total of 19 operators, supported by five vehicles, including an immediate life support ambulance (SIV), and a helicopter. .
