Victim was found bloodied by neighbors at dawn this Thursday
Gilmar da Silva Costa, aged between 30 and 40, was killed with knife and machete blows this Thursday (25) in the Vila Marli neighborhood, in Campo Grande. He was found by neighbors, lying in the backyard of the house where he lived, covered in blood.
As determined by Campo Grande News, Gilmar had two fingers of his right hand cut off, as well as a stab wound in the neck and several cuts from a machete in the head, trunk, arms and hands.
The knife used in the neck broke and a piece of the blade, as well as the handle, were seized by the Military Police. The machete was not found until the moment the occurrence was registered at the Depac (Community Emergency Department) Center.
A neighbor and friend of the victim told police that he saw the door to the backyard of Gilmar’s house open at around 1 am, suspiciously, called “Gil”, as the victim was known, but the friend did not appear. The man looked inside the place and saw Gilmar fallen and bloody, afraid he called another neighbor, who entered the house and found Gilmar already lifeless, calling the police shortly thereafter.
When they arrived at the scene, the police entered the house and found, inside one of the rooms, Gilmar’s brother-in-law, a 44-year-old man, who is in a wheelchair and cannot speak for having suffered a stroke.
In addition to a part of the knife blade and the handle, the police also seized a pair of slippers, an earring and a set of keys. Undocumented, Gilmar’s body was identified by her 43-year-old sister, but she was unable to tell the birth date of “Gil”.
A team from the GOI (Operations and Investigations Group) was also at the site and talked to neighbors, but all said they had not heard any noise. The police are investigating who may have killed Gilmar and what was the motive for the crime, which was registered as a simple homicide.
