A man was buried and slightly injured during excavation work early Friday evening. The rescue took about an hour.

Cologne – During excavation work on the house wall of a detached house in Cologne-Porz, a man was slightly injured early Friday evening.

According to a fire department spokesman, he was buried at around 5:04 p.m. at a depth of two meters up to the waist.

He was taken to the hospital with hypothermia and minor injuries.

According to the fire department, the worker was unable to free himself.

The earth around the buried person had to be removed for around an hour. “In order to be able to free the person, a complex installation had to be carried out […] created so that further soil could not slide down,” explained the fire brigade.

A total of 36 fire and rescue services were deployed.
