Gerardo Suero tells elCaribe that Paulino will have a break of at least 20 days before his preparation for the World Cup
Marileidy Paulino arrived in the country last Sunday after serving, along with her coach Yassel Pérez, in the Diamond League. Now, the sprinter is getting a well-deserved break of at least 20 days.
After these holidays, the double silver medalist of the past Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, will be undergoing a preparation process with a view to the World Athletics World Cup, to be held in mid-July next year in Oregon, United States.
This was reported to the Caribbean by Gerardo Suero Correa, president of the Dominican Federation of Athletics Associations (FDAA).
“This has been a great year for Marileidy. It was a year of many blessings for her. The Tokyo Olympic Games showed this by winning two silver medals (one in the 400 meter dash and another in the mixed 4×400 relay ”, said the federated.
He argued that for the World Athletics World Cup, the native of Don Gregorio de Nizao, Baní, will be accompanied by the same delegation that was in Tokyo, who also achieved their qualification for this competition.
“Along with her (Marileidy) will also be Yancarlos Martínez, Ana José Tima, as well as the mixed 4×400 relay. In other words, all those who were in Tokyo 2020 and made the brand will be in Oregon “, said the president of the FDAA.
He expressed that the time required to be in this World Cup competition is computed in the competitions that the FDAA carries out from June 26 of this year to June 27 of next year, which leaves the doors open for other members of the national team to be present in that contest.
On the other hand, Suero Correa stated that all the logistics of preparation of Marileidy Paulino in the Diamond League was paid for by the Dominican Government, through the Ministry of Sports, and the Creso Group.
“We sent her to a training base in Castellón, Spain. From there, the organizers move it to the different events of the Diamond League, but it is with money from the Ministry of Sports and the Creso Group. All this has to do with food, lodging, internal transportation, among other facilities, “said the federated.
In the Diamond League, Paulino participated in the three tests of the 400 meters, achieving two first places: 50:40, in Lausanne (Switzerland) and 50:20, in Paris (France), totaling in both the sum of 20 thousand dollars, while in the final in Zurich, he crossed the finish line with a record of 49:96 and 12 thousand dollars.
