Still in the Fantastic Cinema category, Demigod: The Legend Beginsby Chris Huang Wen-Chang (Taiwan), was the winner of the Special Jury Prize.
Eline Schumacher, in megalomaniacand Tom Hughes, in shepherd (United Kingdom), were elected best actress and actor, respectively, while the latter’s production also collected the award for Best Screenplay.
incubusby Tito Fernandes (Portuguese film co-produced with the United Kingdom), won the Fantasporto Grand Prix dedicated to short films.
The award dedicated to the Best Script went to Convenience Storyby Satoshi Miki (Japan), and shepherd won Best Photography, while stone turtleby Woo Ming Jin (Malaysia) received an honorable mention from the jury.
In the official Orient Express section, Philippine production Officeby TM Malones, won the Orient Express Grand Prix, having stone turtle received the Special Jury Prize.
Between Directors’ Week, the Best Film Award went to narcosisby the Dutchman Martijn de Jong, and the Special Jury Prize for kayakby Milcho Manchevksi (Denmark/Netherlands/Croatia/North Macedonia).
Hans Herbots, with Belgian, Dutch and German co-production Ritualwas distinguished with the Best Director Award and the gameby Peter Fazakas (Hungary), won Best Screenplay.
Zsolt Nagy, in the gameand Thekla Reuten, in narcosisreceived the Directors’ Week Best Actor and Best Actress Awards, respectively.
Directors’ Week Special Jury Mention goes to Hungarian production The Grandson.
Among the unofficial prizes, the Japanese Immersionby Takashi Shimizu, and Life of Mariko In Kabukichoby Eiji Uchida and Shinzo Katayama, collected, respectively, the Critics’ Prize and the Audience’s Prize.
Ferdinand Lapuz, Krzysztof Zanussi, Elmo Nuganen and Anthony Waller were honored with the 2023 Fantasporto Career Awards.
