Kung fu master Shang-Chi (Simu Liu) is confronted with his past, although he doesn’t want to know anything about it. He has long since turned his back on his apparently immortal father Xu Wenwu (Tony Leung), the ruthless and feared leader of the “Ten Rings”, after he had to endure a merciless drill in his childhood and was trained to be a killer. The mysterious organization has reportedly been pulling the strings in the MCU world, well hidden, for quite some time. Shang-Chi now steps in to bring her down.
Even if Michelle Yeoh only plays a supporting role in this Marvel movie, she shows once again that she is not only a great actress but also a martial artist genius. “Shang-Chi” is the first Asian Marvel hero and the influences of the superhero film can also be found in the Yeoh Oscar hit “Everything Everywhere All at Once”.
