Newquay in Cornwall named hottest UK property market

Newquay named hottest UK property market as Cornwall becomes most searched-for location on Rightmove

High demand: Newquay in Cornwall has been named the hottest sellers’ market in Britain

Newquay in Cornwall has been named the hottest sellers’ market in Britain, with 82 per cent of properties put up for sale this year already sold subject to contract, Rightmove is reporting.

The greatest excess of demand over supply for a decade means almost two-thirds of properties on estate agents’ books nationwide have sales agreed, the property website said.

Cornwall recently overtook London as its most searched-for location.

The second hottest market for sellers is Newton-le-Willows in Merseyside, where almost 82 per cent of homes have sales agreed, followed by Plymstock, Devon with 81 per cent.

The top ten seller markets have seen asking prices hit record highs since the market reopened last May.

But city centres are moving much more slowly, with Birmingham the best market for buyers – as only 18 per cent of listings have had sales agreed.
