According to the fire brigade, the driver of a car was at the Auermühle level crossing in Ratingen around 5:14 p.m. in the afternoon. Here, for unknown reasons, she was swept away with her car by the moving train.

After about 50 meters the train came to a standstill. At first, the rescue workers assumed that the driver was trapped in the car. Fortunately, that was not the case, because witnesses to the accident were able to free the occupant directly from the car.

The rescue service took care of the injured immediately and immediately took them to a clinic due to their serious injuries. The train driver suffered only a slight shock and required no further care.

The fire brigade disconnected the car’s battery and checked the scene of the accident for possible hazardous substances.
