The rejection of the hostile policy of the US and NATO, as well as the need to strengthen the fight against terrorism and for a more just world, were the focus of the Final Declaration of the VII International Seminar on Peace and for the Abolition of Foreign Military Bases, which drew more than 60 anti-war activists from 25 nations to Guantanamo.

From Caimanera, the delegates spoke out for the return of the illegally occupied territory in the Cuban Upper East, and demanded the end of the genocidal blockade against Cuba.

Ángel Arzuaga Reyes, deputy head and coordinator of the Department of International Relations of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, thanked the international support for our Revolution, which is building a socialist system based on the principle of defending world peace.

He conveyed a special greeting from the First Secretary of the Party and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, who ratified that, faced with the danger of a new world conflagration, Cuba will maintain its historic position for peace.

During the event, the pacifists reiterated the need for human life to be respected and dialogue to be considered in the solutions to current conflicts.

Fernando González Llort, president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, invited to act with more political force and cohesion to avoid the effects of war and cyberwar that are promoted from military bases.

The Seminar will continue today with the regional meeting of the Americas, of the World Council for Peace, in order to analyze and propose solutions to the tense situation that some peoples in the region are experiencing.
