The Frankfurt skyline normally lights up as shown in the picture above on the left.  On Saturday evening the lights went out in the course of the so-called "Earth Hour" in the Main metropolis for a short time.

Due to the “Earth Hour” the lights went out for a short time all over Germany on Saturday evening. The Frankfurt skyline was also shrouded in darkness.

In Hesse, numerous well-known buildings remained dark on Saturday evening, the “Earth Hour” began at 8:30 p.m.

Municipalities, companies and private individuals took part worldwide.

The action this year should also send a sign of peace in Ukraine, in Europe and around the world, WWF said.

Fossil energy not only heats up the climate, but also wars.

A total of more than 60 cities in Hesse had registered to take part.

The lights should go out at the Limburg, Wetzlar and Fulda Cathedrals, at the Landgrave Castle in Marburg and at the Wedding Tower on the Mathildenhöhe in Darmstadt.

The campaign took place for the 16th time.
