The Brussels GP, which would normally take place on Sunday in the King Baudouin Stadium and is considered one of the larger athletics competitions in Belgium, is cancelled. The organization announced this on its social channels on Monday. The reason for the cancellation is that the registration system has broken down.

“The registration website has been subject to constant and repetitive hacking for several weeks now,” it said in a statement. “This is both on the database and on the website itself, without being able to determine the exact cause or find a solution so far. Faced with all these problems, it seems very difficult to us to organize the Brussels Grand Prix next Sunday.”
The Brussels GP uses its own registration system, separate from the platforms offered by the athletics federations. There have also been problems with registrations in recent years, but organizer Brussels Athletics has always stuck to its own system despite strong criticism.
The organization of the Brussels athletics meeting is still looking at whether it can find another date for the meeting, but that will be quite difficult. The athletics calendar is overcrowded, and the King Baudouin Stadium will also be reserved for concerts by The Rolling Stones, Ed Sheeran and Coldplay in the coming weeks.
