The Formula 1 circus will certainly settle in Melbourne until 2035 for the Australian Grand Prix. The parties involved reached an agreement on this today.

The Australian GP has been organized since 1928 and has been held at Albert Park in Melbourne since 1996. There was no racing in 2020 and 2021 due to the corona pandemic. In April, more than 419,000 motorsport fans attended the Grand Prix during the three-day race weekend. The Monegasque Charles Leclerc drove to victory in his Ferrari.

“The race has always been a favorite for the fans, the drivers and the teams. Melbourne is an incredible and vibrant international city that is a perfect fit for our sport,” said Stefano Domenicali, Formula 1 chairman and CEO. “This year, an immense crowd showed up and we saw passionate fans at the GP. We are very much looking forward to the future in Australia as our sport continues to grow.”

The previous contract ran until 2025 and has now been extended by ten years. New is that from next year Formula 2 and Formula 3 will also take place in Melbourne during the same weekend.
