In the war-ravaged cities in Ukraine, some works of art by graffiti artist Banksy have recently been displayed. The artist has already left behind his typical paintings in Kiev, Irpin, Borodjanka and Horenka, among others, and has already posted some of them on his Instagram page, which is considered an official acknowledgment that they were made by him. On social media, he also shared a video of how he places the works on the destroyed buildings in Ukraine. Footage from a ‘surveillance camera’ also suggests that Banksy himself was filmed in Irpin painting the gymnast with the ruff.

The video suddenly shows a man in a suit and mouth mask, who sprays the artwork on the wall of the destroyed building. However, the images are clearly staged and the gymnast is not painted ‘live’, suggesting that it is very unlikely that it is really the British artist. Banksy always keeps his identity a secret and previously spread such fake videos of himself. There is speculation that Banksy may be the man in the costume, or at least have something to do with the creation of the video. “That would be completely consistent with his sense of humor,” it says on social media.
