FC Barcelona on Tuesday booked a 3-1 win against Celta Vigo on the 36th match day in La Liga.
At halftime, Barca led 2-0 after goals from Memphis Depay (30′) and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (41′). The same Aubameyang (48′) scored another goal in the second half. Iago Aspas (50′) softened. After a red card for Jeison Murillo in the 58th minute, Celta was faced with a very tough assignment.
Camp Nou was startled on the hour. Teammates Gavi and Ronald Araujo collided with their heads hard. The latter seemed knocked out for a moment, after which he was placed on a stretcher and left the field in an ambulance. The game was stopped for more than five minutes. FC Barcelona meanwhile announced on Twitter that the defender has suffered a concussion and is undergoing additional examinations in hospital.
In the standings, Barcelona is second with 72 points, which is 9 less than champions Real Madrid. Sevilla, which will receive Mallorca on Wednesday, follows 7 points from the Catalans.
Earlier in the evening, Real Betis remained in contention for a top four spot by beating Valencia 0-3. Willian José opened the scoring in the 57th minute. In the final, Sergio Canales (87.) and Borja Iglesias (90.) hit. In the standings, Betis is approaching three points from number four Atlético Madrid, which will visit Elche on Wednesday. The top four in La Liga will receive a ticket for the Champions League. There are two more days of play.
