Bars in Campo Grande have been making the last preparations for Brazil’s debut in the 2022 World Cup, played in Qatar, this Thursday (24). The Brazilian team plays at 15:00 (MS) against Serbia and establishments hope to increase profit with the increase of customers in the crowd.

Owner of the Bada Bar, on Rua da Paz, Arthur Andrade, 32, reports that the place has been preparing for over 30 days with the acquisition of tents to house fans. This Thursday, from 9:30 am, the decoration began to be assembled.

A television was already installed and two more will be placed. He comments that he expects to fill the capacity of 160 people in the place and that 15% of the reservations have already been occupied.

Bar Mercearia, on Rua 15 de Novembro, is one of the most traditional bars when it comes to gathering football fans. Owner João Marcelo Cunha, 45 years old, points out that the place will receive 200 people, without prior reservations, and there will be seven televisions. The site will operate with reduced hours, to increase the number of simultaneous employees, from 12:00 to 21:00.

“The organization for the Cup is part of the annual planning. Usually, we open a part of the bar, because we follow competitions all year round, but today we’re going to open everything because there’s an audience that doesn’t come during the year”.

Elsewhere in the city, officials are making preparations for departure. At Tasco Botequim, on Rua Manoel Inácio de Souza, cleaning was carried out this morning. At Maracutaia Bar, on Rua Sete de Setembro, the decorations have already been set up.

On Avenida Afonso Pena, the owner of Cerv Já, Francisco José Avesani, explains that three environments were prepared for customers – a sector nicknamed “VIP cabin”, the deck and an external area with 400 chairs, chemical toilets and a tent set up. In addition to the usual eight televisions, a big screen was installed.

“It’s going to fill up, we’ve been doing the Cup for many years, the first one I did was in 1990. Cerv Already has 35 years of history. Here is a more sporty place, fans of winning teams, for example, come here to celebrate. The movement started at 7:30 am”, says Avesani.

He explains that 14 additional employees will be hired, including security guards and waiters, and the estimate is to increase income by up to four times. “I’m really excited, we’re heading to Hexa.” Brazil plays at 15h, against Serbia, in Group G, which also includes Cameroon and Switzerland.
