Gleycy Correiafamous beauty queen Brazilian woman who participated in important competitions, died at the age of 27.

The young woman suffered a stroke and heart attack after undergoing a surgery routine to remove tonsils, reports The New York Post.

Correia was crowned Miss United Continents Brazil in 2018. Her death occurred on Monday at a hospital in Brazil. The young woman was admitted to the hospital at the end of March.

“He had a surgery to remove his tonsils and after five days at home, he suffered a hemorrhage,” Correia’s family’s priest, Lidiane Alves Oliveira, told the Mirror newspaper.

“She was [al hospital] Unimed and had a cardiac arrest on April 4.” The tragedy was an unexpected blow to the family. “Since then she was in a coma, without neurological activity, and today she died,” lamented the priest.

People en Español reports that another religious leader who is a friend of the family, Pastor Jak Abreu, revealed that the parents of the beauty queen they believe there was medical negligence in his case.
“God chose this day to take our princess away,” the pastor said. “We know that we are going to miss her a lot but now she will be lighting up the sky with her smile.”

The young woman came from humble origins and thanked God for being able to fulfill her dreams in the world of beauty pageants.

In September 2021 another model passed away. Brazilian model Vanessa Soares, 21, died in the middle of a surgery which he had undergone to remove a tumor near his liver.

Soares was then transferred to the General Hospital of Roraima, where the tumor was detected near her liver.

Soares, who was a nursing student at Estácio College, had been a three-time beauty pageant winner. She was crowned Miss Rorainópolis in 2016 and 2020 and also won the Miss Teen Roraima pageant in 2018.
