The SPD parliamentary group in the Stuttgart state parliament has spoken out in favor of a ban on the “Z” symbol based on the model in Lower Saxony.
Stuttgart – The SPD faction in Stuttgarter The state parliament has spoken out in favor of a ban on the “Z” symbol based on the model in Lower Saxony.
“The ‘Z’ symbol does not stand for the Russian Federation, nor for Russian culture or origin. It is a clear sign of support for the illegal attack on Ukraine and stands for cruel violence against the civilian population,” said the Parliamentary Secretary and Interior expert of the SPD parliamentary group, Sascha Binder (39).
He called on the state government to ban the display of this symbol as a sign of support for the Russian war of aggression in Baden-Württemberg as well.
Lower Saxony had announced criminal consequences for using this symbol in public on Friday.
“Anyone who uses the ‘Z’ symbol to publicly express their approval of Russian President Putin’s war of aggression against Ukraine must expect criminal consequences in Lower Saxony,” said Interior Minister Boris Pistorius (62, SPD).
