Belgian Lions lose practice match in Finland


The second exhibition game of the Belgian Lions in Tampere and in the context of the ScandicCup resulted in an 80-71 defeat against Finland. The Lions are in full preparation for the first two games of the decisive World Cup preliminary round (August 25-28) and the European Championship (September 1-18).

On Thursday, the Belgian Lions won 71-75 in Finland. In Hakametsän Jäähalli, which was filled with 4.410, the Lions, without Ismael Bako, Loïc Schwartz and Manu Lecomte, among others, and after a 43-37 deficit halfway through and a 62-49 score after the third quarter, eventually lost 80-71. Pierre-Antoine Gillet (18 points, 6 rebounds), Quentin Serron (12 points) and Haris Bratanovic (16 points, 6 rebounds) were the mainstays.

The Lions return to Belgium on Sunday. Wednesday 10 August (8:30 pm) the only friendly international match in Belgium is on the program. The Belgian Lions receive in sports hall Alverberg in Hasselt Germany. The German team includes four NBA players (including Dennis Schröder) in the selection.
