The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation allocates the amount for the next four years. In addition, the foundation also supported organizations fighting AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria with financial donations.

From conflicts to climate change-induced famines and floods, Africa is disproportionately affected by disasters. As a result, 278 million people on the continent suffer from chronic hunger, the foundation said. According to the UN, this has hampered sub-Saharan Africa’s progress in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, including ending food insecurity and creating jobs.

Our goal is to improve the chances of achieving the sustainable development goals in all sub-Saharan African countries by 2030

– says the foundation’s statement.

It focuses on five African countries

Bill Gates srt focuses on a country where it believes it can have the greatest impact. These countries are Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria and South Africa.

Nigeria, Africa’s most populous country, is likely to receive the most spending in the region, Bill Gates said at a briefing in Nairobi. He did not provide any other details.

In Kenya, the Seattle-based foundation supports projects in agriculture, health, immunization, nutrition, sanitation, financial services and gender equality, among others.
