“Bottle post can’t offer that”: This beverage delivery service from Leipzig is celebrating its anniversary

Leipzig – Beverage suppliers like Flaschenpost with their 120-minute deliveries have been in particular since corona very popular. However, if you value services such as customer proximity and regionality, in Leipzig another completely different option: Eberlein Beverages & Online Shipping, which has now celebrated its 25th anniversary.
At the anniversary celebrations in Barfusz in downtown Leipzig, there was Bautzner mustard as a gift – a hot commodity that is currently difficult to obtain, as owner Danny Eberlein (48) revealed to TAG24.
In the meantime, he and his current six employees no longer only concentrate on the delivery and shipping of all kinds of drinks, but also other foods as well as party and hygiene items are part of the range.
Anyone who thinks that the company based on Maximilianallee is new in Leipzig is wrong. Danny founded the company back in February 1997. “I wanted to be self-employed, I didn’t want to be dependent, I wanted to have a regular vacation, so how I imagine it and not how my boss imagines it,” he said in an interview .

At that time he was in his early 20s and was thinking about what people need. “That’s when we came up with the idea of delivering drinks free of charge and that was the cornerstone.”
Even after 25 years, Eberlein Beverages can assert itself against the competition
The entrepreneur can now look back on 25 years of successful work with around 22,000 customers. In Leipzig alone there are currently more than 2000 customers, mainly companies, who have drinks and other items supplied by him and his team.
In addition, you can also order the complete range throughout Germany, except that the goods are then sent by post. However, those who are lucky enough to live in Leipzig will be personally delivered by the drivers.
Although the competition from Durstexpress and Flaschenpost was at times fierce, one was taken over by the other and Flaschenpost was finally developed by Dr. Oetker was bought, many customers came back.

“You saw that the service we offer is different from that offered by the message in a bottle,” said the 48-year-old. “Customers are used to the same driver almost always coming. Flaschenpost can’t offer that!”

Ordering is easy, even for the older generation

Two to three times a day, the vans for the tours through Leipzig are packed to the brim, deliveries are made between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays, and even up to 7 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
And even if there are sometimes delivery bottlenecks, as is currently the case with mustard, some products have been a hit for years, including spinach in a jar, for example. “We sell about 1,500 glasses a year,” Danny smiled. Well, as we all know, there is no arguing about taste…
In addition to funny anecdotes about customers who have already claimed that the driver had “cheated away” a Sternburg box, Danny knows one thing above all after so many years: “I don’t have as much vacation as I wanted, but I don’t regret anything .The company is my baby!”
