Brussels rapper Damso fourth year in a row most streamed artist in the country, and in France even Adèle is not doing better

Damso (29) can call himself the most listened artist in Belgium for the fourth year in a row. The Brussels rapper was presented with the Ultratop Streaming Award 2021 on Thursday, leaving Stromae behind in the row of many winners. In France he does even better than ABBA and Adèle.

With 47.3 million streams in 2021 – and no less than 273.7 million in total – Damso is once again unapproachable on the streaming services in our country. He also won the Streaming Award in 2017, 2018 and 2020. Only in 2019 did he have to tolerate Angèle. With four awards, the rapper is now the only record holder: he leaves Stromae, who won three times, behind in the ranking.

The organization behind the Ultratop calls Damso the “undisputed Belgian king of streaming”. “With four awards in five years, he proves to be by far the most popular artist in the country, in terms of streaming,” said chairman Patrick Guns. “Every new song and album brings new fans and even more streams. His latest album QALF infinity was the most streamed album in France, surpassing Adele, ABBA and Ed Sheeran. Damso is an exceptional talent, and an artist we can be proud of.”

Damso himself reacts briefly to his performance. “A fourth Streaming Award is an honor for me. I am grateful that my Belgian audience is loyal to my projects.”

No Angèle or Lost Frequencies, both ex-winners, in second place in the ranking. K3 takes the silver this year. Bart Peeters completes the top five and is followed by Stromae, whose latest album multititude only appeared this year. Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Tourist LeMC and brand new three-time MIA winner Metejoor also appear in the top ten.
