IOK Waste Management and the city of Geel have taken the camera system into use at the recycling park in Drijhoek. Because the park is rather limited in size, there is often a long queue of vehicles with all kinds of waste queuing up.

Just like with the car inspection, thanks to the camera at home, you can first check online whether there are many people before you leave. The idea for such a camera came to IOK Afvalbeheer via the Geel participation council. Anyone who watches the online live stream will notice that the images are remarkably blurry. “That is intentional for privacy reasons,” the statement reads. “For example, number plates and people are not visible, while you can clearly see whether vehicles are queuing up in front of the entrance to the recycling park. The images are also not saved.” The images can be viewed on the site of IOK Afvalbeheer. (ho)
