Castors Braine, Belgian champion seven times in a row from 2014 to 2020 and the current vice champion in women’s basketball, also wants to make waves in men’s basketball. “A men’s team is certainly a project we are working on,” said chairman Jacques Platieau at a press conference on Wednesday.

It’s not very specific yet. “I don’t know if it will be next year, two years from now or even later. At the moment there are no resources for this. We will take the step when we are ready. If a sponsor puts a large sum on the table, it can go quickly, but for next season it will be a bit short notice anyway.”

“There is certainly room for a men’s team in Braine-l’Alleud, but that should not be at the expense of the women. We want to emulate Kangoeroes Mechelen, which has a team in both the European Cup for men and the Euroleague for women.”
