Catholic hierarchs of León demand justice for the murder of priests in Chihuahua

León, Guanajuato – The Conference of the Mexican Episcopate and the Archdiocese of León mourn the murder of two Jesuit priests inside a temple in the community of Cerocahui, Chihuahua and demand justice and security from all priests in the country.

It is about the Jesuit priests Javier Campos Morales, and Joaquín César Mora Salazar who were killed inside the temple.

The Jesuit community in León, Instituto Lux, is also dismayed, and asks the Catholic faithful to pray and for justice to be done.

Jesuit priests Javier Campos Morales and Joaquín César Mora Salazar were murdered inside the temple.

We condemn these violent acts, we demand justice and the recovery of the bodies of our brothers who were taken from the temple by armed people.

The President of the Republic Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO)in the “morning” confirmed the double crime, when armed men entered the village temple chasing another person who allegedly tried to take refuge in the temple.

They murdered him, the priests came out and apparently they were also murdered; we are attending to this matter,” said AMLO.

Through a statement the Archdiocese of Leon he condemned the murder of the two presbyters.

“In the midst of so much death and crime in the country, we publicly condemn this tragedy and demand an investigation and security for the community and all the priests in the country.”

We pray to our Lord Jesus Christ, receive them and reward them with his kingdom, for his generous service and pastoral dedication for the good of the entrusted people, and to all of us who pilgrim in time, we implore him to comfort us in this tribulation with the hope of Life Eternal ”, adds the statement.
