the former president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (EN) and the former governor Geraldo Alckmin (PSB) registered this Saturday, 6, the candidacy of the slate for the Presidency of the Republic in the Superior Electoral Court (TSE).
The registration was made by the national president of the PT, Gleisi Hoffmann, and by Aragão e Ferraro Advogados and Zanin Martins Advogados.
Lula and Alckmin will compete for the Planalto in the biggest coalition among the candidates this year. The alliance includes nine parties: PT, PV, PCdoB, PSOL, Rede, PSB, Solidariedade, Avante and Agir.
The deadline for holding coalitions has already passed, but the slate can still seek the support of other acronyms to strengthen the platforms. This is the case with the Pros, for example. The party, however, faces an impasse. While part of the party wants to support Lula, another wing defends the maintenance of coach Pablo Marçal’s candidacy.
Avante was one of the last to join the coalition, on Thursday, after André Janones announced that he was withdrawing from the dispute to support Lula.
“The Lula-Alckmin ticket is officially registered. We are very happy to start the electoral process, a fundamental mark of democracy, the greatest asset of Brazilian society”, informed Gleisi in a press release.
