Colombia adds a new massacre to reach 46 in 2022

A few days before the celebration of the second electoral round in Colombia, the South American country added a new massacre on Friday, this being number 46 so far in 2022.

From the Institute of Studies for Development and Peace (Indepaz) they indicated that the event that occurred in the municipality of Cartagena del Chairá, department of Caquetá, killed at least four people.

The mayor of the municipality, Edilberto Molina Hernández, told local media that the victims were traveling in a motorcycle when an explosive device exploded, killing a 6-year-old girl, her mother, the driver and another person passing by. place.



Given the unfortunate event, the residents of that area rejected the attack and expressed solidarity with the families of the victims.

The fact was condemned by the Colombian president, who expressed his rejection of the attack and announced that he had given the order to intensify the operations of the public force to find those responsible for the crime.



The Ombudsman’s Office had issued an alert for the municipalities of Cartagena del Chaira, El Paujil, La Montañita, Solano, in the department of Caquetá, due to a pattern of violence and the presence of irregular armed groups in the area.

The authorities are expected to rule in the coming hours on the massacre with more details in this regard and also provide the necessary guarantees to prevent further violent acts in the area.
