When mourning the death of businessman Paulo Roberto Hans, 65, after performing an aesthetic procedure on his face, in Campo Grande, the SBCP (Brazilian Society of Plastic Surgery), Mato Grosso do Sul region, said that even following all the protocols required to each case “failures and complications can occur due to predicted facts”.

In a note sent to the press, on Saturday afternoon (6), the Society states that it sympathizes with the family. It also ensures the faithful compliance with norms, protocols and scientific criteria that maximize patient safety, whatever the procedure to which it is submitted.

However, the SBCP considers that in every practice of medicine there are risks. “It is necessary to consider that the existence of risks inherent to the practice of Medicine cannot be denied, even if all Lex Artis rules are judiciously and rigorously complied with within ethics and professional zeal”, emphasizing that “some complications escape the control of the physician and of Medicine”.

The Brazilian Society also stressed that it will only express itself more objectively about the case after a possible and, if necessary, pronouncement by official bodies about the facts.

To the press, the HPLAS (Plastic Hospital), where the businessman’s surgery was performed, said it would not comment. “Out of respect and consideration for the patient’s family and medically confidential data, we prefer not to publish any notes at this time, despite being saddened and sympathetic to the grief of the family and everyone involved.”

Death – According to the information contained in the police report, Hans was admitted to a plastic surgery clinic around 1 pm on Thursday (4), where he was hospitalized until 12 pm yesterday. The procedure would be simple, lifting the eyelids.

After being discharged, Paulo went home to Carandá Bosque, and as soon as he arrived at the apartment he complained of dizziness to his wife. She pulled out a chair for him and when she sat down, he went into cardiac arrest.

The family called an ambulance from Samu (Mobile Emergency Care Service), which took him to Unimed Hospital. Doctors performed resuscitation maneuvers for 35 minutes, but without success. The death was found at 15:35 this Friday. The case was registered as a death to be clarified, at Depac (Community Emergency Service) Cepol (Integrated Center for Specialized Police).

Hans graduated in business administration in 1980 at the Fundação de Estudos Sociais do Paraná, and has developed an extensive career. He was president of Abrasel/MS (Brazilian Association of Bars and Restaurants) between 2003 and 2006, as well as director of the Campo Grande Commercial Association between 2006 and 2007. Paulo Hans leaves his wife Neide, with whom he was married for 42 years. , three children and four grandchildren.
