Confessed killers of Paraguayan prosecutor are convicted in Colombia

Colombia’s justice system has imposed a sentence of 23 years and six months in prison on each of the four detainees for the murder of Paraguayan anti-mafia prosecutor Marcelo Pecci during his honeymoon in the Caribbean.

Of the five captured, four pleaded guilty to crimes of “aggravated murder and trafficking, manufacturing or carrying firearms,” the prosecution said.

Pecci, 45, was shot by men on a jet ski on an island near Cartagena. Wendre Still Scott Carrillo, the shooter, was convicted of the crime; Eiverson Adrián Arrieta Zabaleta, responsible for transport and logistics; and Marisol Londoño Bedoya, along with her son Cristian Camilo, detailed the entity.

According to the prosecution, Scott Carrillo is of Venezuelan nationality, and the others, Colombians. Authorities have not identified the masterminds behind the murder, for which the attackers received about $530,000.
