Cuba defeats the United States and wins the bronze in the Pan American Softball Tournament (m)

Cuba thrashed the United States 11×5 and won the bronze medal of the Pan American Softball Tournament this Saturday (m) based in the Argentine city of Paraná.

At the Nafaldo Cargnel stadium and softball fields in Paraná, mentor Leonardo Cárdenas had his regulars and the result was palpable from the start of the match, in which his students scored one in the first episode due to an RBI hit by Yersander Rodríguez.

It was precisely Rodríguez the offensive hero of the Antillean teamleaving with four hits in as many plate appearances, with three doubles and four RBIs.

Clusters of three, two and five runs in chapters three, five and seven signed the success of right-hander Alain Román, who had excellent support from Gusbel Plutín to preserve the winning advantage.

At bat Cuba shot 15 unstoppables, of those home runs by Reinier Vera and Osvaldo Pérez to certify success over the United States, fifth place in the world championship in the Czech Republic in 2019.

With the bronze medal, the Antillean cast completed an excellent performance, since in addition reached the best place among the Central American teams and won one of the four places offered by the competition for the New Zealand world competition this year.

The Cuban team seized the places offered here for the Central American and Caribbean Games in San Salvador and the Pan American Games in Santiago de Chile, both in 2023.

The tournament title will be disputed between undefeated Canada and world champion Argentina.
