First seed Medvedev defeated Serbian Miomir Kecmanovic (ATP 38) in his semifinal on Friday 7-6 (7/0) and 6-1. Then third seed Norrie was too strong for Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime (ATP 9), the number two on the placement table, 6-4, 3-6 and 6-3.

Medvedev and Norrie, both 26, only played each other once. In 2019, the Russian won 6-3 and 6-1 against Norrie at the Masters 1,000 in Shanghai.

The number 1 in the world is aiming for a fourteenth title in his 26th ATP final. His honors list is still blank this season. He already lost three finals, at the Australian Open, in Rosmalen and Halle.

Norrie plays his eleventh ATP final and is aiming for a fifth title. In 2022 he already won the Delray Beach and Lyon tournaments and was runner-up in Acapulco. Last year, Norrie won the title in Los Cabos by beating American Brandon Nakashima in the final.
