With a new control system, the NRW police have declared war on illegally flying drones.

Dusseldorf – the police in NRW continues to arm itself against illegally flying drones: It now introduces the “Elysion” control system. The software displays drones on a map and can simultaneously control multiple defense systems.

According to the responsible State Office for Central Police Services (LZPD), the program was tested for a year at major events, for example.

Now it will be introduced permanently as a situation and control system, according to a spokeswoman for the LZPD at the request of the German Press Agency. The background is also that other authorities are already using “Elysion” – and so a comprehensive cooperation is possible.

The police did not reveal any more details “for tactical reasons”. However, the tender documents show that new jammers (“jammers”) were also ordered to cut the remote control of drones.

The police already have such devices, since “unmanned aerial vehicles” – as they are officially called – have been a growing problem for years. Three years ago, the police even presented a drone catcher who fires a net in which the rotors of the drone are supposed to get tangled.

At the same time, the police themselves own various drones – which are used for various operations. From recording the accident to searching for missing or fugitive offenders.
