The electronic speed bumps installed in Parque dos Poderes begin to apply fines as of this Wednesday (11), for those who travel above the permitted speed, which is 30 km/h. The equipment is already working on an educational basis from April 26 until this Tuesday.
The installation of electronic inspection equipment is part of an agreement between the Detran-MS (State Department of Transit of MS) and Agetran (Municipal Agency of Transport and Traffic). The municipality was responsible for installing the devices and then issuing the fines.
The purpose of the inspection is to make local traffic safer and to reduce eventual accidents with wild animals within the Parque dos Poderes, which is part of an environmental reserve. The agreement for the implementation of the equipment has a period of two years, and may be extended.
The Detran was responsible for adapting its computerized fine control system, so that Agetran could register and control it. It must also withhold transfers, discounts and charges provided for by law. The municipal agency will receive transfers from the collection of fines, to cover operating costs.
