Elon Musk confirms Tesla layoffs of 3.5% of office workers

Entrepreneur Elon Musk clarified this Tuesday that the layoffs at Tesla will focus on office workers and will mean 3.5% of the workforce, contrary to the 10% threat made three weeks earlier by the billionaire.

The information was provided by the founder and leader of Tesla during a videoconference intervention at the Qatar Economic Forum, Efe reported.

Elon Musk justified the decision to reduce office workers by noting that the electric car company had hired many in the past and that it is now necessary to reduce the workforce in this sector by 3.5%.

The richest man in the world assured that, in the coming months, the number of factory workers, responsible for assembling the vehicles, will increase.

The Tesla CEO also said that the company’s vehicles are in such high demand that he is not worried about competition, but about the limits he has for producing more cars.

“We need to build assembly plants faster,” Musk stressed during his speech, where he also praised the discipline and dedication of Chinese workers.
