Amber Heard took the stand for the first time on Wednesday and testified against his former partner Johnny Depp in the scandalous and mediatic defamation trial. Quickly, several users shared an excerpt from the statement where she described the actor during “an opening speech” and allegedly repeated every word of dialogue from the movie The Talented Mr. Ripley.
The posts that went viral claimed that the actress had quoted everything said by the character played by Gwyneth Paltrow in the hit 1999 thriller. That post that went viral had only one goal: to prove that his story had been scripted.

According to what was spread on networks, the defendant had started saying: “When I was close to Johnny, I felt like the most beautiful person in the world.” And she continued: “You know, it made me feel seen, it made me feel… like a million bucks. It felt like a dream. It felt like absolute magic, and then he was gone. There was just no way to locate him, no way to contact him.”
These phrases are taken entirely from the film. However, that was not his testimony of the co-star of Aquamanwho didn’t even make what’s known as “an opening statement.”
What was the true statement of Amber Heard against Johnny Depp in the defamation trial
Despite the strength of this rumor (and beyond some very slight similarities), the recordings of the trial make it clear that Amber Heard’s testimony against Johnny Depp is not taken from The Talented Mr. Ripley. At least not entirely.
“When I was with Johnny I felt like the most beautiful person in the world. It would be like a bubble, like we were in this little bubble of secrets, and it felt warm, bright, as we would say, just music and the kind of books that we both love and that we both knew by heart, and it felt like a dream. It felt like absolute magic”, said the actress in court.
And he completed: “As I mentioned this bubble, where he would come to my house and not leave for like three or four days. You know, just smoking cigarettes and playing music and reading poetry to me, or painting me. Then he would disappear and there was no way to locate him, no way to contact him.”
The couple met while filming Diary of a Seducer in 2008 and, according to the actress, both felt an immediate crush, although they did not officially start dating until 2011.
